🌟 From Chaos to Control: Building a Business That Feels Like You

If I’m honest, there was a time when I felt like I was juggling three worlds — the consultant/employee, the creator, and the dreamer. Each had their own goals, deadlines, and ideas, and I thought I could keep them all neatly in sync. Instead, it looked more like a tornado of to-do lists and half-filled notebooks.
But here’s what I learned through that whirlwind: chaos isn’t the enemy. It’s just unorganized creativity waiting for structure.
For many of us building small businesses or nonprofits, the chaos doesn’t come from lack of passion. It comes from caring about too many good things all at once — funding ideas, partnerships, client needs, program design, and trying to make it all sustainable.
So, before I found structure, I found myself in constant motion — reacting instead of creating. Until one day, while sipping coffee and planning on my iPad, it hit me:
What if the goal wasn’t to control everything, but to design my world with intention?
That’s when the phrase was born — “From Chaos to Control.” Not control that limits your creativity, but control that frees you to build, lead, and reflect.
Because here’s the truth: running your business is chaotic. One day you love it, the next you're irritated, and sometimes we want to give up. I realized I needed a rhythm, some joy, and style — even a way to embedding my imperfections and crazy experiences into one place to help others.
When you stop trying to copy someone else’s version of success, you start crafting something that reflects who you truly are. That’s what I moving toward building processes called "Destiny by Design" — a life and brand that blends purpose, structure, and a little fun.
How do I do this Ginell?!?! My life and business can use a little structure and fun...
I'm glad you asked! Let's start creating this Destiny by Design in three steps. you ready? LET'S Go!
💡 3 Steps to Move from Chaos to Control
Audit Your Chaos (With a Smile)
Take a notebook or open your Notes app and jot down everything that’s capturing your attention—ideas, goals, projects, and even dreams. Then, emphasize what truly excites you. If it doesn't ignite your passion, it's clutter, not a calling. By auditing the chaos, we can identify the priorities that require our focus. Choose one "chaos" to address. List all the steps you can think of to transform this chaos into control. This will be your focus each week.
Simplify Your Systems
If you're like me, you used to jot everything down on post-it notes or random scraps of paper. Choose one place to organize your life, whether it's Google Sheets, Notion, Trello, a whiteboard, or a dedicated notebook—whatever suits your style. Instead of chasing after tools, create a system that works for you. Keeping track of your progress demonstrates that you're moving forward. Keep in mind that structure should feel supportive, not restrictive.
Celebrate The Order
Finish each week with a sense of gratitude. Reflect on what you accomplished and appreciate your efforts, letting go of what wasn't completed. Reflection should remain free from negative emotions. Celebrate your consistent work towards your goal, even if you needed a day or two to adjust. I find joy in marking goals as completed, no matter how many remain. Gratitude keeps you grounded while your aspirations grow.
The Fun in the Flow
Somewhere between business plans and partnership meetings, we forget that joy is part of the process. Building something meaningful doesn’t have to be heavy — it can be playful, creative, and deeply spiritual. So yes, put on your favorite playlist while you plan. Brainstorm at your favorite café. Bring laughter back into your workdays. Because when fun and faith are in your structure, success follows with ease.
The Closing Note
Remember, From Chaos to Control isn’t about perfection — it’s about building your world with intention, leading with structure, and reflecting with gratitude.
When you make space for joy and order to coexist, your creativity doesn’t shrink — it shines.
Welcome to your Destiny by Design.
